Specifications

Introduction of Four Specifications

With the purpose of reducing disastrous landslip like the one occurred in Kwun Lung Lau in 1994. The HKSAR Government has awarded hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts related to detection of leakage from buried water carrying services throughout the territory. In spite of there is an increasingly large pool of “underground utility specialists” with most working almost independently, devoid of any standardized surveying methods, quality requirements (on survey results) and the “registration” of operation personnel in the market. It greatly undermined the reputation of the utility survey industry.

Under these circumstances, HKIUS identified the importance of generating guidelines, training manuals, requirements and contracts documents for different utility survey contracts (by government and private projects).

The following section tries to provide four specifications amended and adopted by HKIUS, which nowadays are gradually widely adopted and taken as reference by many utility practitioners, governments departments, consultants and contractors etc.
