Having served the Council since 2003, I shall now strive to serve members with even greater effort and clearer vision.
I will be supported in this task by the other 27 members of the Council who come from the Officer Bearers, Chairmen of Committees, Chairmen of Discipline Representatives as well as Elected Ordinary Members for 2009-11 and 2010-12. Together we will strive to serve the best interests of all members of the HKIUS including Company and Individual Members from our 12 disciplines.
In the coming year, we shall continue to build and nurture professionalism among our members and enhance the status of our members (MHKIUS, FHKIUS and RPUS) in society in a number of ways:-
1. We aim to complete Guidelines and Pamphlets that will consolidate and standardize working procedures for all of our 12 disciplines for later dissemination to government and professional bodies, industry practitioners, educational institutions and members of the public.
2. We then aim to construct a Code of Ethics to guide Company and Individual Members in their dealings with industry partners, members of the public and society as a whole.
3. We will promote the new grouping of HKIUS Company Members to help promote public confidence in our Company Members’ services
4. We will continue to support and promote the use of the Community, Construction Professionals’ Development Centre (CCPDC) as a platform for industry wide discussion on improving services
5. We will continue to offer CPD events such as Seminars, Conferences and Technical Visits solely or jointly organized by HKIUS as well those members of the learned society (CCPDC and UTI).
6. In particular, we are jointly organized ICUMAS.2011, The Second International Conference on Utility Management and Safety, to bring world leaders in the industry together in Hong Kong.
I truly believe that we are able to promote and enhance the professional status of HKIUS by these initiatives, not only in Hong Kong but also internationally.
I sincerely invite you to join events of HKIUS or become a member of HKIUS and I would count on your continued support and contributions which enable me to lead the institute to a new height.
Mr. Zico, K.Y. Kwok
President of HKIUS
Session 2011/13
