Continuous professional development (CPD) is the systematic maintenance and broadening of relevant knowledge and skills, which enable utility survey professionals to expand and fulfill their potential in maintaining a high standard and an everimproving quality that meets the needs of clients.

The HKIUS believes it is incumbent on every individual Member of the Institute to be sensitive to the requirements of society and the profession, and consequently, to develop a self continuing professional development programme to respond to local and international requirements and to provide opportunities for oneself to be able to develop their skills so that they can deliver programmes meeting local and international professional and academic standards.

It is the requirement of HKIUS that members shall achieve not less than 35 hours of CPD learning in every calendar year or not less than 70 hours within two consecutive years, 10 hours of which shall be relevant to safety issues.

Members who cannot fulfill the requirements will be suspended for their membership until they can fulfill the requirements in a required period, otherwise, they will need to have re-assessment in case they wish to become HKIUS member again.

All CPD must in a way or many in enhancing members’ professional development.
