Introduction

The Second International Conference on Utility Management and Safety (第二屆國際管綫管理及安全會議, ICUMAS.2011) will be held in Hong Kong, tentatively in March 2011. The international conference is jointly organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Utility Specialists (HKIUS) and the Hong Kong Utility Research Centre (HKURC), with Ir S.S. LEE, GBS, OBE, JP (李承仕金紫荊星章, OBE, 太平紳士) as the chairman of the Organizing Committee, and under the event management of the Utility Training Institute (UTI).

The conference theme “Utility Management and Safety” will bring together industry practitioners, government officials, researchers, educators, academics, technology consultants and representatives of key professional industry associations, which range from the fields of Power, Petroleum, Gas, Telecom, Water, Drainage and Transportation. Hence, it facilitates a platform for participants to exchange knowledge, share their valuable experience, and develop international cooperation and closer business relationships.

The program will feature keynote speeches by renowned industry specialists and prominent academic professors, as well as oral and poster presentation by both academics and industry practitioners alike. It will be a highly interactive and results orientated conference, which will include discussions, site visits or social activities focusing on Utility Management and Safety. Besides the technical activities, a wide variety of social events and a selection of pre and post Conference tours will be arranged for participants and their accompanying persons to experience the unique culture, custom, economy and development in Hong Kong or other places in China.
